Project Outline: How to Paint

IDD302 Final Project Outline

Spring 2009

Your name: Marni Vail

Project title: How to Paint a Beautiful Picture.

Project description:

I am going to create a project that will help students become better painters.

Project context:

My target audience is the students at BYU Hawaii and everyone else who wants to learn.

Project rationale:

People who want to learn how to paint will be instructed in a step by step process how to plan, and carry out a painting. Art classes tell you techniques but sometimes don’t walk you through the whole painting process beginning to end.

Instructional objectives:

(Instructional objectives help you clarify what exact knowledge, skills, and attitude you want the learners to acquire from this program. State here the A, B, C, and D of your objectives. See Winegarden’s article in Blackboard.)

At the end of this online training, students will be able to…

1) The students will learn how to gather ideas and inspiration about what to paint.

2) The students will be instructed on proper planning techniques about: getting a canvas, preparing water, which brushes to use, how to grid a canvas,

3) The students will be able to blend basic colors on the color wheel and know how to lighten or darken a color.

4) The students will learn about proper sketching techniques, and how to measure proportions using a pencil.

5) The student will be able to paint and know what brush strokes are needed for what style of painting the students would like to do.

Instructional method:

I will use video clips as well as pictures zooming in. I will also be using voice overs and testimonials from other people that I have painted with, that will share their helpful tips.

Assessment:

I will prepare an online questionnaire for me to find out what the students learned.

Assignment: Max: 30 points

Reflection Articles

Reflection on 2.0 Articles
o What are the main messages in each of the articles?

*We need to accept the fact that we do not know everything and reach out to others for help.
Knowledge is not constant or fixed, it is always changing.

*People work like computers. We work the best when we are connected together in a network.

*The way the world is changing, so the way people are learning, and exchanging knowledge is changing. Now people can participate in long distance learning, people in Samoa can learn about things we are learning in the U.S. without even setting foot off their island. Peoples ability to colaborate is blessing our lives, and helping us reach out to one another and share what we know.

In a knowledge
economy, the
individual is
the knowledge
creator, and
relationships
are the currency.

o What are the supporting messages?
*Who you know is as important as what you know.
*People no longer have to be professionals in one narrow field, as so many people are sharing information we can know a little bit of everything. By joining others we can Connect, exchange, contribute.
*We must first accept the fact that we do not know everything, and cannot know everything,

o What are the examples they used to illustrate these messages?
People no longer have to spent alot of time being diagnosed by doctors or rely soly on journalists. If we have questions or concerns we can take them to the web and have our questions answered in matter of minutes, without even leaving the house.

o How do you feel? What do you think you can apply in your own professional development?

*I think that by getting to know people and networking. Networking and making friends has already proved to be very beneficial. I love the quote, "Can a greater miracle occur that to look through one an other's eyes for a moment?" Though it is important to have experiences and touch and feel and awaken our senses to beautiful new sights and smells, so much knowledge can be passed from one person to another if we share. Life is not a competition. Hoarding what we know and shutting our ears to what others know only hurts us. As we look to one another we will become faster, smarter and stronger as people.
